The Santa Rosa police department will be running a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location on Friday, June 16, 2017. The checkpoint will be conducted from 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers from the Santa Rosa police department aim to crack down on drunk driving, which they indicate has caused more than 500 accidents and almost 200 injuries in the last three years. They state that DUI checkpoints reduce crashes involving impaired driving by almost twenty percent.
A drinking and driving conviction for a first offense in Sonoma County, Marin, or elsewhere in the Bay Area can result in punishment including probation, fines, a DUI school and up to 6 months in jail under the California Vehicle Code. Drivers with multiple offenses for driving under the influence face even greater punishment. Whether arrested for DUI in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Novato, or San Rafael, you need to call an experienced aggressive driving under the influence attorney for help.
