DUI Arrests up throughout California over 2017 Holiday Season

Arrests for DUI by the California Highway Patrol went up dramatically over the 2017 holiday season compared to 2016. Statewide, more people were arrested in California for driving over the influence during the Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends in 2017.  The CHP arrested 936 people for DUI from December 29, 2017 to January 1, 2018, an increase of 22 percent increase over last year.

The Golden Gate Division of the CHP, serving the Bay Area, arrested 157 people for DUI, nearly double the number in 2016.
